Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Needs These Gaming Legends

Fortnite always seems to be preparing its “next big thing” to keep players constantly entertained. According to recent rumors, Chapter 7 Season 4 will likely be themed around Gaming Legends. This is an exciting prospect, as there are many gaming IPs that deserve to be represented in Fortnite. Today, I’d like to share my top picks of gaming characters that have the most potential, both for cosmetics and gameplay!

PICK ONE: GOD OF WAR

It has been over 1,900 days since Epic last included the GOW 2018-inspired Kratos skin in the Item Shop. Many believe this absence stems from licensing issues, potentially on Sony’s side. Whatever the reason is, Kratos remains one of Fortnite’s most sought-after collabs. Season 4 provides a perfect opportunity to finally rerelease this skin, as well as even more God of War-themed content.

Obviously, Epic could make Kratos’ weapons of choice (like the legendary Blades of Chaos and Leviathan Axe) in-game items. Over the years, there have been countless examples of Epic designing fun and balanced melee weapons. Based on their track record, mimicking the brutal hack-and-slash combat from the original trilogy (as well as the slower, more methodical combat of the newer games) would likely be an easy task.

There are also plenty of viable choices for new cosmetics. For instance, many fans have requested a young Kratos skin for years. The timing of this skin dropping now would make perfect sense since the Trilogy Remakes are currently in the works. If Epic were to go this route, they could also bring other Greek gods to the game, such as Ares, Hades, and Zeus.

However, if Epic were restricted to characters from the new saga, there are still many fan-favorite characters to choose from. The most obvious picks would be Atreus, Freya, and Thor. These three picks alone would likely have excellent additional cosmetics (such as Thor’s hammer as a pickaxe, or Sköll and Hati as a glider for Atreus). Regardless of which cosmetics Epic would choose to include, God of War fans would almost certainly appreciate the collaboration.

PICK TWO: FINAL FANTASY SEVEN

Since Epic is heavily rumored to have struck a deal with Disney for a Kingdom Hearts collab, FF7 would be another great addition next season. The groundbreaking RPG is known for its unique weapon designs, with plenty of options that would work perfectly in Fortnite.

For instance, mythics of Cloud’s Buster sword, Barrett’s Gatling gun, and Yuffie’s Materia would be great for short- and long-range combat. Aerith’s rod could serve as a healing item, similarly to Mercy’s mythic from Chapter 7 Season 2. Additionally, Sephiroth would work perfectly as a boss, dropping a mythic version of the Masamune upon death. A boss fight of this caliber should be both difficult and intimidating to fight, aspects Epic has nailed with previous bosses.

In terms of mobility, Epic could also design rideable Chocobos. The easy solution would be to copy FF7 Rebirth’s Chocobo designs and gameplay from different biomes. However, based on this season’s Sprite mechanic, Epic could go the extra mile and design customizable Chocobos of their own. This hypothetical feature would allow for endless player freedom, which is something Epic nailed even in this current season with the Sprite Guardian skin.

As for skins, the main choices are obviously the main crew (Cloud, Barrett, Tifa, Aerith) and Sephiroth. Depending on the size of the collab, it would also be nice to have Cait Sith and a Moogle as companions. While this is a random suggestion, a Victory Fanfare emote utilizing music from the original game would also be appreciated. Between mythics, bosses, mobility items, and cosmetics, FF7 practically offers enough content to carry the entire season.

PICK THREE: DOOM & CALL OF DUTY

Either of these Microsoft-owned franchises could be a possible collaboration after the surprisingly fun Overwatch collab last season. That specific collab is part of the reason why I believe these games would be good picks for gameplay content. Both Tracer’s Pulse Pistol and Mercy’s Staff were extremely fun gameplay additions to BR. They proved that Epic could accurately mimic gameplay mechanics from other games while still adding a signature Fortnite twist.

Any guns from the Doomslayer’s arsenal would be very fun to use in Battle Royale if balanced well. Like the Overwatch collab, each mythic weapon should put you in first-person for true immersion. Epic could also design a mobility item to grant the Doomslayer’s double-jump and dash abilities. Of course, since the Dark Ages DLC recently launched, a skin based on Doomslayer’s new look would be perfect timing.

With a COD collab, the first-person gameplay would likely remain the same. However, there are more opportunities for skins, such as Ghost, Price, and Makarov. Since Modern Warfare 4 is the latest entry in the series, this hypothetical collab would be set in a grounded, realistic tac-sim environment. The concept of using real-life guns in a cartoony game like Fortnite is novel, as Epic has yet to truly attempt it. However, a collaboration like this would be the perfect way to experiment.

Fortnite has found increasing levels of success through crossover events and collaboration-themed updates. However, a true Gaming Legends season has the potential to become one of the game’s most memorable updates ever.

Do you think these games would be good picks for this upcoming Season? What games would you like to see represented in Season 4? Let me know in the comments!
