This Throwback Thursday, I decided to highlight a hidden gem of a browser game that is perfect for the scary season: Garfield’s Scary Scavenger Hunt!

Scary Scavenger Hunt is a point-and-click puzzle game where Garfield must find assorted food items scattered around the mansion. Don’t be fooled, however, as this task is not as simple as it sounds. Besides the puzzles blocking your path to victory, there are also jumpscares and monsters that add to Garfield’s “Scare-O-Meter”. If this meter fills up completely, all of your progress is reset!

Considering when this game was created (2002), it boasts some genuinely impressive visuals, atmosphere, music, and gameplay. These aspects all combine to make a finished product that is actually somewhat creepy for a Garfield game. The puzzles are also surprisingly solid, requiring some actual input instead of being overly simplistic. Overall, Scary Scavenger Hunt is an excellent short-but-sweet Flash game that has stood the test of time. There is no better time to experience (or even re-experience) this classic.

If you’re interested in trying out the game for yourself, be sure to click this link! And if you enjoy it, here’s a link to the 2003 sequel! Be sure to let me know in the comments what you think about both games!
