Macabre Monday: Other Mommy (2026) Trailer Two Review
With October just around the corner, I thought it was perfect timing to share my thoughts on the (likely) final trailer for “Other Mommy”. Universal wastes no time reminding viewers that the film comes from Blumhouse (the executive producer of Obsession) and James Wan (the producer of Backrooms).
However, these references are not simply a lazy attempt to generate hype around Other Mommy. On the contrary, the trailer does a genuinely great job of building up suspense and fear.
In my opinion, Jessica Chastain’s performance as both the real mom and “other mommy” is truly the highlight of the trailer. She does an excellent job being unsettling, particularly with that creepy, unnatural laugh in the final few seconds. James Wan’s influence can also be felt in the more paranormal elements of the trailer. I especially thought the “deformed under the table” scene was effective.
If Director Rob Savage can successfully adapt the source material, I can see Other Mommy being a smash hit in theatres. I am definitely adding this film to my Halloween watchlist when it releases on October 9.
