The Future of The Bad Batch?

A couple of months ago, I decided to start watching Star Wars in chronological order. The list I use covers all Star Wars media, even the animated shows. After completing my viewing of The Clone Wars show (which I highly recommend to any Star Wars fan), I moved on to The Bad Batch. While I did highly enjoy the show, its ending felt a little ambiguous compared to its predecessor. This made me start thinking, “What could happen after the events of the show?” I hope to present some of my ideas here today. Be warned, this post will contain slight spoilers for The Bad Batch TV show.

Obviously, one of the easiest and most interesting concepts Disney could explore is an “Omega” solo show. The end of Bad Batch skips forward in time to show us an older Omega, who now wishes to explore the galaxy with the Rebellion. I think there is a big opportunity here, whether it be animated or live-action, to explore Omega’s adventures after the end of Bad Batch. You could also throw in some flashbacks to before she left Clone Force 99 for good measure!

Another cool concept this hypothetical show could play around with is Omega finally meeting her “brother” Boba Fett. I’m surprised this meetup didn’t happen during Bad Batch, because it felt like a huge missed opportunity. Having Boba meet the only other unaltered clone of Jango Fett could certainly lead to an interesting dynamic between the two. Maybe the two could work together to make their own Clone Force with the help of another Kamanoan scientist. Of course, Omega could also cross paths with those such as Ahsoka, who could train her to finally become a Jedi.

An alternative idea for a show could be to fill the gaps between Bad Batch’s time skip. While not as novel as an Omega show, this idea could flesh out the overall storyline a little more. For example, maybe we could see Omega working on skills that she believes will be useful for her future survival (in this case, joining the Rebellion). Additionally, it would be neat if we saw Captain Rex go on more adventures with Echo and other clones to fight against the Empire. This could flesh out both the storylines of Bad Batch and Rebels, as it could potentially explain how Rex ends up on Seelos in that show. Of course, some cameos from Clone Force 99 wouldn’t hurt either.

Regardless of what direction Disney/Lucasfilm takes the series after the ideas presented in Bad Batch, I hope we do see more of some of the show’s characters. There is a lot of potential here for deeper dives into Omega and Clone Force 99. My hope is that at least some of these ideas will be used for the future of the Star Wars timeline!
