Ranking the Best Halloween Candy

The Halloween season is fast approaching. For that reason, I’d like to share what I think are some of the best candies of the season! This list will feature the top five candies, so leave your thoughts in the comments if you agree!

NUMBER 5: STARBURSTS

Personally, I feel like these are a bit underrated. Admittedly, they are small, but I think they are consistently good across all the flavors. If I had to pick a favorite, however, I would definitely choose strawberry, with the orange ones close behind. Unlike gum, I like how you can swallow them when you’re finished chewing. You can also usually get a ton of these during Halloween due to their small size! While I definitely do like Starbursts a lot, I enjoy the others on this list even more.

NUMBER 4: YORK MINTS

I’m not sure if this is common (or even popular), but I always enjoyed the taste of York peppermint patties from a young age. I specifically enjoyed the satisfaction of unwrapping them and tasting what I considered the perfect blend of chocolate and mintiness. This also turned the mints into one of my personal Halloween favorites. Like Starbursts, their small size allows you to collect a lot of them (even if they are bigger than Starbursts). Also, I like their uniqueness due to there not really being many other mint Halloween candies.

NUMBER 3: UTZ Pretzels

Similarly to Starbursts, I think UTZ pretzels are severely underrated. I don’t really hear people talk about them, but they’re one of my most anticipated Halloween snacks. They’re the perfect option if you’re tired of super-sweet snacks. I’m not exactly sure if it’s their crunchiness/taste or just nostalgia, but to me, there is something that sets them apart from other pretzel brands. To be honest, it could just be the fact that I generally don’t eat UTZ pretzels outside of Halloween. Either way, I think they very much deserve this spot on the list (as long as you don’t eat them while they’re stale!).

NUMBER 2: Whoppers

I always look forward to the small Whopper packages during Halloween, even if they only have 3 balls per package. There’s just something really satisfying about popping the candies out of the sleeve and enjoying their tough but creamy consistency. I’ve heard some people argue that the inner section of the Whoppers is too dry, but personally, I love them. Out of the small-but-popular Halloween candies, I believe Whoppers are the quintessential option. However, they cannot compare to the first item on this list.

NUMBER 1: HERSHEY BAR

This might be considered cheating, but it really all depends on which neighborhoods you went trick-or-treating in. I always looked forward to going to the houses in certain neighborhoods that would always hand these bars (along with other chocolate options) every year. As for taste, I don’t think I need to describe what makes Hershey Chocolate so good. Everyone knows why they made the number one spot on this list.
