Macabre Monday: Remain (2027) Trailer Review
A few weeks ago, Warner Brothers finally revealed the first trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s newest film, titled Remain. Remain’s screenplay was written by Shyamalan, based on a book he co-created with bestselling author Nicholas Sparks. In this case, the movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Phoebe Dynevor in what appears to be a supernatural romantic thriller. While the trailer starts with a misleadingly cozy, warm tone, it quickly spirals into something more like Shyamalan’s previous work.
In my opinion, the trailer works mainly because of its ominous sound design and convincing acting. Specifically, I have been a long-time fan of Gyllenhaal and his work, and I especially enjoy his roles in psychological thrillers. A film like this definitely seems up his alley, so I am patiently waiting to see Remain in theaters on February 5 next year.
