Bullseye’s New MCU Costume Explained: What It Means For Born Again Season 3

After years of waiting, Bullseye is set to FINALLY receive a more comic-accurate suit design. Based on what can be seen from leaked images, Marvel clearly listened to fan criticism when creating Bullseye’s new look. Today, I would like to discuss my thoughts on this particular suit, as well as Bullseye’s potential fate in the future of the MCU.

THE DESIGN

Thankfully, Bullseye’s new suit seems to be themed more around his titular symbol (as opposed to the simple, “handmade” look from previous seasons). For instance, Bethel officially shared a on-set video of the costume’s new gloves, which prominently display the symbol. The chestpiece also features a set of two curved lines with a strip of blue between them. Speaking of the suit’s colors, there is a generous mix of blue, black, and gray for the circular chestpiece lines.

In terms of the helmet, it matches the color scheme of the main suit. It also features a bullseye logo with a camera in the center. Although I have a theory on what this camera will be used for, my thoughts will be saved for the next section. The helmet’s eyeholes are also completely white, unlike the open-eye look popularized in both the show and countless comics.

Ultimately, Bullseye’s new costume seems to be a MASSIVE step up from the lackluster suit designs from previous seasons, as it goes for a more comic-inspired look. Like most fans, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the character in Born Again Season 3 and future MCU projects. Speaking of which, here are a few theories for what Marvel Studios could be planning.

THE FUTURE

Based on the ending of Born Again Season 2 and Bullseye’s partnership with Mr. Charles, Poindexter will likely begin his career as a mercenary. Because Bullseye has accepted his role as a psychotic serial killer, he will be more willing to follow all Charles’ demands, no matter how violent. However, although Bullseye likely trusts Charles, this trust does not seem to be reciprocated.

The reveal of Bullseye’s helmet camera seems to point to two different theories. Charles could have secretly implemented this camera as a potential safeguard. This theory would make sense due to Bullseye’s unruly and uncontrollable nature. Alternatively, Bullseye himself could have added this camera to record what he views as some of his “best work”. Both of these theories are plausible due to the general unpredictability of the character.

Regardless of the camera’s purpose, it’s likely that Bullseye will continue causing problems (both for Matt and for Hell’s Kitchen). Although the two formed a temporary truce to stop Mayor Fisk, this truce became moot after Fisk’s expulsion. Now, empowered by Mr. Charles (and by Matt’s recent imprisonment), Bullseye could possibly join a government-sponsored team, like the Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers.

With the DDBA writers expressing interest in a Bullseye solo show, only time will tell what direction the MCU takes with this fan-favorite villain. What do YOU think of Bullseye’s new costume? Would you like to see him join a team like the Dark Avengers in the MCU? Let me know in the comments!
